Hindsight Tonight, and every night!
Hindsight + Learning = Archival laughter!
Hindsight Tonight is the culmination of two years of trial and error. Those two years were a culmination of years of Damian Muziani's personal trials and errors. But, in short, it was the Global Pandemic of 2020 that led the way to the creation of Hindsight Tonight.
As an actor and broadcaster, Damian Muziani spends many hours each week researching roles and auditioning for acting and voiceover parts. As the 2020 election drew close, one such breakdown caught his eye.
A production house was interested in hiring a reporter who would comment on the day's headlines from his newspaper office desk as part of a video news reel. The character they were looking for was someone who could look and act like a jaded veteran, a weathered newsperson who probably has a messy desk and a bottle of scotch in the drawer. They wanted him to be unshaven and unkept. The idea was intriguing, but Damian instead created a news capsule that combined news bits with savage commentary added. He also eschewed the image the producers were seeking and dressed nattily, in a three-piece suit.
Naturally, he did not land the part. But the idea of churning out a 3-minute product each week as a witty summary of current events stuck with Damian, so he began to write and produce a show on his own for publication on Monday mornings.
This show was named Hindsight 20/20.
Fresh episodes of Hindsight 20/20 were released over the last twelve weeks of the year, to ever-increasing praise and viewership.
On January 3, 2021, Damian changed the name of the program to Hindsight 2021, and continued to create new product each week. Over the course of the year, he was honored with a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award nomination by the National Academy of Arts & Sciences in the category of Writer. Hindsight 2021 also won W3 and Davie Awards for copywriting and production, respectively. During the year, Damian noted that on the weeks that Hindsight 2021 was released early, on Sunday night as opposed to Monday morning, viewership increased. With backing by the DB&A Television Network and confidence from professional accolades and an ever-growing audience, he decided to make Sundays a permanent home for his work, and decided to choose a permanent name for the show as well: Hindsight Tonight.
